Twitter and libraries

Most libraries use Twitter to promote events, new books and services. Some libraries also use Twitter to inform of technical problems that could cause temporary inconvenience to library users. They adopt an informal communication style to create a chatty and friendly image of the library. However, I think it is not style but content that counts that links a library with its patrons and makes them keep contact through Twitter.

I liked the Twitter account of College of DuPage. The tweets are clear sum-ups of what it leads the followers to. Each tiny URL opens a great source of information.

In general, most libraries' Twitter accounts have the same problems --small number of followers and little or no interaction with library users.

This is my tweet for Bookchats:
Had a good read lately? Like to share it with others? Join us for morning tea and chats on books. http://twi.cc/I7pS
